Digital Nomads Korea (“DNK”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) helps digital nomads and remote workers discover, live in, and connect across Korea. DNK is a brand operated by Hoppers Inc., a company established in the Republic of Korea. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you visit digitalnomadskorea.com, subscribe to our newsletter, join our community, register for events, or otherwise interact with us (together, the “Services”).
Hoppers Inc., which operates the Digital Nomads Korea brand, is based in Seoul, South Korea and is the organisation responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described here. Digital Nomads Korea is not a separate legal entity. By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact & identity data — such as your first name, last name, and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter, join the community, or sign up for updates.
- Event & sign-up data — details you provide when you register for a meetup, workation, or other event, including through embedded third-party forms and event platforms.
- Communications — the contents of messages, questions, or feedback you send us by email, form, or social media, along with your contact details.
- Anything else you choose to submit — for example, information you enter into forms hosted by our providers.
Information we collect automatically
- Device & connection data — IP address (and the approximate location derived from it), browser type, operating system, device identifiers, referring pages, language, and time zone.
- Usage data — pages you view, links you click, dates and times of access, and how you navigate and interact with the Services.
- Cookies & similar technologies — see Section 3 below.
Information from third parties
We may receive information about you from analytics providers, advertising and social platforms, and event or community platforms you use to interact with us (for example when you RSVP to an event or engage with our social accounts), subject to those parties’ own privacy policies.
2. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Services;
- Send you our newsletter, event invitations, community updates, and other communications you’ve asked for or that may interest you (you can opt out at any time);
- Organise, run, and follow up on meetups, workations, and events;
- Respond to your questions, requests, and feedback;
- Understand how the Services are used, measure performance, and develop new features and content;
- Personalise content and recommendations;
- Prevent, detect, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights and agreements.
We may also create aggregated or de-identified information that does not directly identify you, and we may use and share that information for any lawful purpose, including analytics, research, and promoting the Services.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, measure performance, and tailor content. We group them into four categories:

- Legal, safety & rights — where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law or legal process, respond to lawful requests, protect the safety, rights, or property of any person, or enforce our terms.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your direction or consent — when you ask us to share your information or otherwise agree to it.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for non-essential cookies, marketing communications, and where we otherwise ask for it (you may withdraw consent at any time);
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, analyse, and improve the Services and to promote them, balanced against your rights;
- Contract — to provide a service you request, such as registering you for an event or sending a subscription you signed up for;
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws.
6. International data transfers
We are based in Korea and use providers located in the United States and other countries. When you use the Services, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (or equivalent) — for transfers of information from the EEA, UK, or Korea.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy — for example, we keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe, and event data for as long as needed to run and follow up on the event. We retain some information longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
8. How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information: to access it, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict its processing, request portability, and withdraw consent. You can also:

South Korea (PIPA)
If you are in the Republic of Korea, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, and suspend the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. California
We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law. California residents may exercise applicable rights by contacting us.
10. Third-party links and services
The Services link to and embed third-party sites and tools (such as social media, event platforms, and forms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
11. Children
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
